Like potatoes and thinking about moving to Idaho? The state is famous for its potatoes, if you haven’t heard. But, even if you don’t love them, Idaho is a great state to live in – especially Boise’s North End.
If you are moving to Boise and are looking for a really neat neighborhood, the North End is probably your best bet. In fact, the North End has become one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods. With tree-lined streets, an expanse of quaint cute cottages combined with impressive Tudor, Queen Anne, and Craftsman homes, and plenty of parks, restaurants, and shops – who wouldn’t want to move to the North End?
But it wasn’t always such a hotspot to live. Between the end of World War II and the 1960s, the North End definitely fell out of favor. Many of the larger homes were converted into small apartment buildings while others just fell to ruin. By the time the 1970s rolled around, the North End was one of Boise’s scarier slums and people were actually moving out!
In the middle of the 1970s, Idaho got to see the North End’s renaissance. Investors came in and the zoning laws changed. As this happened some of the historic-district designations and some long-standing residents moved quickly to reinvent the neighborhood. Today, the North End is brimming with young families, artists, businesses, and is completely revitalized. So, if you are moving to Idaho and want to live near or in Boise, the North End is well worth a look.
