Choosing a Neighborhood in Tucson

Choosing a Neighborhood in Tucson

If you want to move to the city of Tucson in Arizona, you need to consider which neighborhood you want to move to. There are a number of great places that are likely to suit you and your family, and here are a few to help you to narrow it down.

It is not often that a neighborhood takes the full name of a real person, but the Sam Hughes district has been named after a civic leader. This neighborhood offers turn of the century homes on tree-lined streets and is within easy reach of facilities such as shops and restaurants. It is also a good place to live if you need to be close to the university or the Downtown district.

You could also consider the Armory Park district, where the houses are a range of Spanish Colonial and Victorian homes. It is also close to the Downtown district and has been undergoing a lot of regeneration in recent years.

If you are looking for somewhere a little more diverse for your relocation to Arizona, you might want to look at Barrio Historico. There is a strong Hispanic community here and there are many resident artists and other people of creative mind.

The sporting enthusiast might want to consider Dove Mountain. This is a golf course development close to the Tortolito Mountains and it is a very popular area. There are affordable homes here, but there are also many that have a very high price. This neighborhood is in the north of the city and the freeway access makes it ideal for those commuting to other areas.

Relocating to Tucson means that you can also consider the Rancho Vistoso area of the city. This district boasts some of the best schools and is ideally placed for getting into the city and the north-west part of the area.

Next up is the Catalina Foothills. This neighborhood offers great views and is still within easy reach of the business areas of the city. The homes here are a mix of subdivisions and southwest-style, painted to blend with the natural features of the region. Natural desert landscapes are a feature of front yards, and this is also an area known for good schools, upmarket shopping centers, art galleries and restaurants.

The El Encanto district has been referred to in the past as the Beverly Hills of the city, thanks to the number of wealthy residents and the landscaping that takes inspiration from California. Many of the homes sit on one-acre lots and come in a range of styles from Moroccan to Italian. Most were built in the 1930s to attract wealthier residents and you will need to have at least $500,000 to move here. El Encanto’s location makes it popular, as it is easy to reach the university and other work areas of the city.

Be prepared to do some research to find the right Tucson neighborhood for you and your family, and remember that this is just a small selection.
