You are packing your boxes and you know that your moving company will be there to load them onto the truck; therefore, there be plenty of equipment available. Sometimes, however, simply getting boxes and tape is not sufficient for your packing requirements and you may need a few extra items to be fully organized.
You might be able to make use of a hand truck ‒ also known as a sack truck ‒ when packing for your house move. This is a relatively small piece of equipment that you can load items on to move them from one place to another. If you fill a box and you think it is too heavy for you to lift and carry yourself, simply put the hand truck underneath the box and lift and roll it to a place where it is out of the way until the movers arrive. A hand truck can be rented; however, if you think you will be able to use it again in the future, such as the next time you move house, you might think it is better value to buy one.
If you do want to buy a hand truck, look at the details first. Can it handle at least 150lb? It also needs to look quite solid and needs to have good strong wheels.
Something you may not have considered is whether you need a box cutter. This can be useful for getting everything open at the other end, with professionals often considering this item better and easier to use than a knife or a pair of scissors.
