The start of a new school year is a busy, unsettling and often expensive time of the year, and if your children are starting new schools due to the fact that you have recently moved then you can probably quadruple this. The good news, however, is that there are a few ideas that can help you to save time and money and settle into your new environment more quickly.
Sticking to your tried and trusted routines is always a good idea to help the family to settle into new surroundings after a move, and there are also some excellent community services out there that will be able to help you to ease yourself and your children into the new school with a lot less hassle.
One good idea you might want to take into consideration is carpooling. If your school suffers from a long line of cars rolling slowly toward the drop-off area every morning, sharing a drop-off and picking up other children near you can be a very good idea. If the school is not too far away you might also want to consider walking your children to school, possibly with other families. This is a great way to get exercise, meet new people and help your children to quickly make new friends.
Prior to your children starting the new school and maybe even before relocation, get hold of the school handbook or look at its website for lists of interesting classes, fun facts, photos, and details of extracurricular and sporting activities.
