If you are considering moving to Florida, the city of Tampa may be on your radar while you are property hunting. There are plenty of great areas in Tampa and the city has some historic areas if you want to move to a neighborhood with some period charm.
The area of historic Kenwood is close to downtown St Petersburg and features on the National Register of Historic Places. There are plenty of bungalows that date back to the 1920s and people of all ages have made their homes here. There is a great neighborhood association and community feel, which is perfect if you want to live somewhere where you can get to know your neighbors.
Relocating to Florida might mean that you are considering Downtown St Petersburg. This is a very urban area with plenty of shops and offices and there are also cultural attractions such as museums and parks. Property here ranges from luxury apartments to townhouses and you will find that you are within easy reach of some great markets and annual festivals, meaning that everything you could possibly want is likely to be right on your doorstep.
Alternatively, if you want to move to Tampa you can consider Ybor City, the ‘Latin Quarter’. This is close to the downtown area and is ideally placed if you are going to be working here. Many of the immigrants came here in the latter part of the 19th century and worked in the cigar factories, and you are still able to purchase hand-rolled cigars here. One of the features of this area is the old wooden worker cottages, which have become much sought after. This is another of the city’s historic districts but there are also plenty of entertainment options, including clubs and shops. There has also been plenty of residential developments and there are always family events and activities. The Halloween celebrations are a big thing here, for example, and present a great opportunity to dig out those scary/fun costumes.
The West Tampa area of the city was also home to plenty of cigar factories and this area is now emerging as a very desirable place to live. The area is close to all the amenities that you are likely to need, including commercial areas for work, hospitals, and cultural attractions. West Tampa has become a very culturally diverse part of the city and there has been plenty of residential development. People of all ages are setting up home here and there are plenty of eateries, some of which have earned a great reputation.
Moving to Florida is a dream for many people. One of the reasons people want to move to this part of the country is the great weather – not everybody likes cold, wet winters, which is an important factor for retirees in particular.
Florida has plenty to offer in terms of entertainment and you are never very far away from a great beach. The opportunity to live a more outdoors lifestyle is also a big attraction for many.
