Let’s Go Back to Rockridge

The San Francisco Bay area is one of the most beautiful in all of California, so why wouldn’t you want to move there?  Well, Rockridge is a neighborhood in Oakland, California that hasn’t always been so appealing.  Just think about how the city was viewed back in the 1980s.

During the biotech and computer boom in the California area, many people viewed Oakland as a dying city.  In fact, many people were moving away from it.  But, as the advances in technology continued, new riches came to the San Francisco Bay area – and Oakland as well.  This transition helped the city emerge from the slummy reputation it was quickly garnering.

Rockridge began becoming more appealing to people who wanted to move back to the area in the mid-1990s.  During this period, Federal, city, and state aid poured in and kick-started the turnaround.  Now we see tree-lined streets with easy access to public transportation and plenty of jobs.

If you are moving to the San Francisco Bay area, Oakland is a great city with Rockridge being one of the more coveted neighborhoods.  In particular, College Avenue is attractive to pedestrians who love to shop with the avenue having become well known as the neighborhood’s retail hub.  Furthermore, Rockridge is ideal for families interested in single and two family homes in a variety of styles ranging from Mediterranean, Craftsman, and Victorian.
