Making an office move easier

Making an office move easier

Moving your employees to a new office, in addition to moving all the equipment and documents, takes a great deal of planning, especially if you have a lot of office workers to deal with.  The good news is that there are a number of tips that can assist with making the move a lot easier for both you and your employees.

The planned move needs to be communicated to employees ahead of time, as this can help to cut down on the annoyance and anxiety that can result as a consequence of such a radical change.  The employees should be informed about both when and why the relocation is being carried out via internal meetings and emails.

Employees should be given a breakdown of what is happening as it pertains to them; for example, the new office might have a different type of phone line, in which case employees should have training sessions scheduled to learn how to use this prior to the actual relocation.  The times of the training sessions should be staggered so that employees have time to meet their regular work.

The office you are moving to may be in a different area to your current location, in which case employees should be provided with a list of eateries, bus and train stops, and parking garages.  Meetings should also be scheduled to deal with any concerns your employees may have, such as the layout of the new office.
