If you’ve ever been to Las Vegas, or even researched a trip to Sin City, you’ve probably heard of the MGM Grand. Well, the famous hotel and casino is getting ready to begin an impressive $160 million hotel renovation.
This particular hotel renovation is going to be a huge undertaking. All 3,570 guest rooms and 642 suites, already a cut above other area hotels with classy layouts, will get a swanky makeover and upgraded cutting edge amenities.
The new development isn’t just for the hotel rooms at the MGM Grand; the casino floor, clubs, showrooms, and restaurants are also getting an upgrade. In fact, the project management and coordination team has dubbed the project the “grand renovation.” This wider upgrade isn’t even included in the $160 million!
At any given time, about 700 rooms at the MGM Grand will be under construction, which will also be limited to daytime hours during the week to help minimize the disturbance to guests. The first batch of room renovations should be done by the middle of November. They’re clearly moving pretty fast!
Room construction will last about six weeks and the entire hotel renovation should be done by the beginning of September 2012. So, about a year from now, the MGM Grand should be completely renovated and ready to go!
The last major rehaul of the MGM Grand was back in 1999, just six years after the $1 billion hotel opened. The new facelift will feature some really cool furniture, fixtures, and equipment including media hubs, new minibars, flat screen TVs, environmentally-friendly accessories, LED lighting, and movie downloads.
We can’t wait to see the finished article!
