Moving and the military family

Moving and the military family

Moving is a commonplace event for military families; the active member has to relocate their duties for the nation and the rest of the family duly follows.  It is common for military families to move on a very frequent basis – usually once every couple of years – and this constant requirement to adapt to a whole new environment can cause many difficulties and much stress.

The good news is that the right moving company can make life a lot easier for the military family, as can following a few good military tips.  One type of move that can be followed by the military family is the ‘do it yourself’ move.  A lot of military people are choosing this type of move for their family as it means they can organize their relocation to their own satisfaction and requirements.  The military will simply reimburse expenses dependent on the moving allowances and the rank of the serving family member.

Moving a military family is not very different to a civilian move, with just a few exceptions.  Ask moving services for an estimate and explore different quotes, comparing the prices as you do.  Make certain that you ask for a definition of the specific services offered by different moving companies and which of these have been included in the estimate.

You will receive weight tickets from the driver when your possessions have been delivered to your brand new home; the tickets need to be taken to the government for the purposes of reimbursement.
