Moving from Las Vegas to colder regions

The almost unbearable heat for the past two weeks might have you thinking about moving out of places like Las Vegas, Dallas, Tampa or Phoenix for cooler climates.  Then again, you might be looking at the weather in Washington, St Louis and New Jersey, which have also suffered from storms that keep knocking out the power.  New Jersey is typically a cooler state until it hits summer.

Weather might not be a main factor in where you decide to move to, but it should at least be one consideration.  For those who do not like the heat, retiring in a place like Las Vegas might not be a good idea.

Of course, there are always other ways to retire comfortably, depending on your portfolio.  You might decide to retire to two states with some of your household items moved by the moving company to a state like Washington and the other half going to California.  If you have the financial portfolio to support this option, you could be in Washington for summer and California for winter, thereby getting the nice weather all year round.  Summers in Washington tend to be cooler but still enjoyable, while summers in California could bake you.  Winters in Washington will include snow and rain, so California or even staying in Las Vegas for winter could be better.  Temperatures are less unbearable then.  A moving company that provides full service will definitely be able to handle any move you want to make.
