According to Newsweek, the state of Alabama has some really great locations to raise your kids.  So, if you are thinking of moving to Alabama, you might want to consider the city of Theodore.

If you haven’t heard of Theodore, Alabama don’t worry; you are not alone.  The population is a mere 6,649.  This small population leads us to believe that not a whole lot of people are actually moving to Theodore, Alabama.

But what is it about Theodore that makes it one of the best cities in Alabama for raising a family?  Well, Theodore definitely isn’t a rich suburb or a haven for a life of luxury.  It’s more of a middle-income area that has consistently good public schools, low crime rates, and plenty of family-friendly entertainment nearby.

Theodore is situated outside of Mobile, so if you are relocating to Alabama and your company is based in Mobile, Theodore might be a good location.  The town is just 15 miles from downtown Mobile, so the commute won’t be too bad.

If you’re moving to the area but haven’t found a job, the Theodore Industrial Park has quite a few shipping and manufacturing companies that might be hiring.  Companies like Evonik Degussa have their base operations right in this small town.  On the weekends, for a little family fun, you could head out to Dauphin Island, which is just a 40-minute drive from Theodore.
