If you are looking for something a little unusual to do in the New Year, why not consider the Napa Truffle Festival? Running from January 16th to 19th, this is an event that any true gourmand will not want to miss.
The aim of the event is to celebrate the growing culinary reputation of the region and showcase some amazing truffle dishes created by top-rated chefs, many of whom have earned a Michelin star (or two!). This four-day festival is now an annual event and takes place at the Westin Verasa in Napa.
Many of the exhibitors at this event are truffle experts; therefore, alongside the top chefs are food writers and mycology experts to enable you to learn all about how to grow and cook these delicacies. There will also be foraging experts there to tell you how to hunt down truffles in the wild along with things such as edible mushrooms. There are presentations and workshops throughout the four-day event.
The cost of tickets will depend a great deal on what you want to take part in. The Wild Mushroom Forage tickets cost in the region of $40 each, but you can pay up to $400 to take part in some of the tasting menus at lunch and dinner. There is also a Scientific Grower Truffle Package that will set you back more than $200, but this does include a tour and two seminars. If you do not want to miss out on anything, opt for the Weekend Package, as this gives you access to everything.
