Packing clothes for a move

Packing clothes for a move

When moving, one of the first things you will do is to pack clothes; therefore, I think it is a very good idea to make sure that you are organized about it.  To start packing clothes for a move, you will need a number of items.  These are some moving boxes of a medium size, a wardrobe box with rod, packing tape, clear plastic bags, packing paper, a marker pen and, of course, the clothes themselves.

In order to pack clothes for relocation that are normally stored on hangers, you should make use of a wardrobe box.  The first step is to fold the wardrobe into its correct shape and then flip it over so that the bottom of the box is facing you.  The bottom of the box should be securely taped before the box is flipped right side up once more, then all you have to do is to put the metal rod in the provided spaces.

When you are ready to pack, just remove your clothes from the closet and then hang them on the rod in the box.  If you want to take an additional precaution, you could cover dresses, pants or shirts with large plastic bags prior to hanging them.

Clothes should continue to be hung in the box until they are completely snug from wall to wall; at the same time it is important not to pack them too tightly as wardrobe boxes which are packed too tightly can be hard to move.  Fold down and tape the flaps, and then write ‘clothing’ on the box.
