Take the pain out of moving

Take the pain out of moving

While the reasons for making a move can often be positive ones such as a new job or relocating to a larger property, the fact remains that the actual process of moving can often be overwhelming and frustrating; however, there are some tips that can make everything go a lot more smoothly.

If you are planning to move yourself, you need to start by making sure that you have hired the right size van.  If you choose to rent a van or truck that is too small you can end up having to make more trips than strictly necessary; on the other hand, if you rent one that is too big you could end up having difficulty finding somewhere to park.

The best advice, unless your possessions are extremely limited, is to make use of the services of a professional moving company; this will take a lot of the effort and responsibility off your shoulders.  If you do decide to hire a moving company then this should be done at least a couple of weeks before the actual day of the move.  Get a minimum of three estimates before making a final decision as to which company to go with.

Make a checklist of all your belongings so that you will know if anything has been accidentally left behind.  It is also a good idea to plan out in advance where your furniture can go in your new home and share this information with your moving company.
