With so many tips around for packing up your old home, many people do not consider where they are going to start when it comes to unpacking at the other end. Being faced with a lot of boxes all at once can be daunting; however, there are a few tips that can make this task a lot easier.
Keep in mind that the unpacking when moving house does not have to be done in one day, and that if everybody lends a hand it can actually be fun. Take into account the needs of the family and unpack kitchen and bathroom essentials first. Unpack the items that you need to make drinks and snacks so at the very least the family has somewhere to go when they need a refreshment break. Get the refrigerator into place and switched on so that things such as milk can be kept fresh.
The bedrooms may be the next rooms on your list, but as long as everyone has somewhere comfortable to sleep then these should not be considered too urgent. Simply make sure that the mattresses are available to sleep on and that everyone is warm when they go to bed, after which you can take your time with these rooms. Everyone can pitch in to reassemble beds and unpack the contents of the wardrobe boxes.
Don’t forget that your moving company can help you with unpacking, particularly if it has helped you to pack at your old home.
