Truphone moves offices from New York

Truphone is to shift its headquarters in the United States from New York City to Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina, it has been confirmed.  Truphone will be making the relocation sometime in the course of the next six to nine months, with the senior vice-president of Truphone US, Gary Cohen, telling BizJournal that the move will bring in literally dozens of brand new jobs to the area.

Temporary office space has already been set up in Durham, with as many as 12 people working out of it; this number is likely to increase to up to 25 by the end of this year.  Cohen says that he hopes that there will eventually be as many as 100 within the next two years, revealing that a large share of the new employment opportunities will be in sales and marketing, while also adding that further down the road there is the possibility of an expanded call center being opened in the area as well.

The choice of the Research Triangle Park headquarters and the build-out of the United States team marks the firm’s formal expansion and presence in the nation.  The US executive team comprises a number of veterans in the industry from companies such as AT&T, British Telecom, Ericsson, IBM, Motorola, Nextel and Sprint, and a number of other leading technology companies.  One of these veterans is the vice-president of business development; she is local woman Susan Nelson.

Raleigh-Durham was chosen because of its “reputation for innovation”, as well as its proximity to other technology firms such as IBM.
