Moving can be a very stressful but also very exciting experience, and one of the most difficult decisions that you will have to make is precisely which items should accompany you on your journey. How many of your possessions you should take with you will be dependent on various factors, such as the moving services you are using and the kind of move being made; ideally, the further you are moving, the fewer items you should take with you.
If the relocation is a very short one and to a home of a similar size, there is no reason why you should not take all of your possessions along with you. A short trip is likely to involve little in the way of effort, even if you have a lot of items.
On the other hand, if you are making a long distance move to another state you should not try to take all of your current belongings along with you. Whether you are handling the move personally or employing the services of a long-distance moving company, taking more items will only increase the cost of relocation. You would be better off parting with big items or those that will soon need to be replaced anyway.
If you are moving to another country, you should really take as little as you possibly can. You should move only your most prized and essential possessions, as in most instances all items will be able to be replaced when you arrive and probably at less expense than transporting everything.
